This is an unfinished birthday present for our little Bo-let.
It's a Faith x Kate fic

Detective Kate Lockley led Angel along the hallway, his wrists handcuffed in front of him.
“I have a great room for you Angel, faces East, you’ll get a great view of the sun in oh four hours” Kate sneered, Buffy scurried behind worriedly.
“What? You know what he is?” She exclaimed.
“Leave it Buffy” Angel interrupted.
“No this is murder” Buffy put herself between Kate and Angel and glared at Kate.
“It’s Ok” Angel said quietly.
“It’s not OK I won’t let you take the blame for her” Buffy replied angrily.
Angel looked away towards a brunette who was sitting down, her back facing them, but he could tell who it was, Kate caught his gaze and walked towards the dark haired girl.
Faith stood up, it came into sight that her wrists were handcuffed; she took a deep breath and spoke.
“I’d like to make a confession” she uttered clearly before letting her eyes drop.
Kate gripped Faith by the elbow and ushered her forward down the hall away from Buffy and Angel.
“You’ve got quite a track record for a…” Kate stopped and looked up from the file in front of her “How old are you?” she asked perplexed.
Faith sat on the cot in the small dank cell, her hands were still handcuffed whilst Kate wrote some notes up. Faith licked her dry lips and tilted her head.
“How old do you think I am?” She purred, Kate merely glared at her.
“Just answer the question” Kate replied impatiently.
“Almost nineteen” Faith muttered dejectedly.
Kate’s jaw dropped her mind was full of questions.
“Nineteen? You’re so young…” Kate whispered before making a note in her file.
“Yeah but oh so experienced” Faith wriggled her eyebrows suggestively. Kate stood up and narrowed her eyes at Faith.
“I’ll speak to you after you’ve had a cold shower” and with that Kate marched out of the cell.
Faith lay back on the hard wooden cot and closed her eyes slowly, her mind racing with regrets, what she thought were minute were in fact hours, two bulked up prison wardens arrived at her cell to supervise her movement to the LA Women’s correctional facility.
But for once, Faith stayed calm and allowed them to escort her. She took slow deep breaths inside the armoured police van and stared into the eyes of one of the police wardens.
For the first time in her life she felt uneasy, as if the man had a hidden agenda. She let her eyes break the stare and looked at the floor for the rest of the journey.
The van finally came to a stop and the door was opened, the Los Angeles sun blasted down onto the concrete of the prison grounds and burned the soles of her shoes.
Faith looked around at her surroundings; a small control room at the entrance, wire fences with barbed wire along the top with a large building inside the metal walls.
Faith was ushered into the control room where she was given a number tag chain, the basic toiletry set and some blankets. A female warden had come to meet her, her name badge read “Irene”, Faith smiled slightly but knew it had come out wrong when Irene looked back at her like she was nothing more than shit on the bottom of her shoe.
“Come on you” Irene barked and led Faith through a door into the prison grounds; she was led into the main sleeping quarters upstairs to where her cell was.
Faith’s cell has grey speckled walls with a cold poured concrete floor; her bed was narrow with a mattress as thick as a pound coin. Thankfully however it was a single; Faith shrugged at the room and laid her belongings on the bed. Irene left her to it and walked out of the, Faith stood listening to the footsteps grow quiet before wandering over to the sink. She ran the tap and was pleased to see it looked clean.
“Is the room up to your standards?” she heard a familiar voice behind her. She turned on her heel and tilted her head thoughtfully.
“Couldn’t stay away huh?” Faith grinned and walked forward.
Kate stood in the doorway and shook her head at Faith.
“I can see you’ve had that cold shower” Kate replied sarcastically. Faith walked towards her bed and sat on the edge and shrugged at Kate.
“Why are you here anyways?” Faith asked.
“I just wanted to make sure you had settled in” Kate lied, she was intrigued by Faith who, though barely an adult, was ranking next to some of Americas most notorious killers for their murder counts.
“Settled as I’ll ever be” Faith brooded looking away from Kate.
Kate took her body language to say she was finished with visitors and quietly excused herself.
Faith looked back at the empty door space and sighed.
Faith kept to herself in the prison, stayed in her room when she was allowed to, chose a non-sociable job service for her two hours a day and showered when everyone else had had theirs.
The other inmates however wanted to know about the newbie, it started with quiet comments when Faith was out gardening, she would ignore them of course but that only served to provoke them further. They watched her every move and noted her showers alone plotting together.
One night after dinner, Faith got her toiletries together and crept down to the shower rooms; she undressed slowly and stepped under the lukewarm dribble of a shower. She heard the door open but thought nothing of it and continued running her hands through her hair.
“Hey new girl” one of the women sneered. Faith turned around and saw about five of them standing by the door, one with a broom shank in their hand. Faith laughed to herself in disbelief before flicking the shower off, the women moved closer to her, one grabbed Faiths arm as the one with the broom smiled dementedly. Faith elbowed the first in the face before grabbing the broom from the second; she broke it across her thigh and stabbing the girl in the leg with the sharp end. She headed towards the door where two others were watching guard; they looked at each other and knew standing still wouldn’t do them any favours so they quickly ran out the door for a warden.
Faith picked up her clothes and sighed when two wardens came in, one holding handcuffs as the other wielding a baton. Faith dropped her clothes and put her hands out expectantly.
Faith sat in a new room away from the women’s wing in solitary confinement, she laid back on her bed and stared at the ceiling, there was a knock at the door but she ignored it. The knocker persisted and tapped again.
“Nobody’s home” Faith replied childishly.
“Faith it’s me, Kate” Kate whispered through the door.
Faith sat up quickly and jumped down from her bed; she looked quickly in the mirror and opened the door.
“Hey” Kate smiled “I brought you some new toiletries” Faith smiled her thanks and placed them on her side table.
“What happened?” Kate asked concerned.
“They surrounded me” Faith replied miserably “I had to fight back” she argued her case and looked at Kate. She responded by nodding understandably.
“It didn’t help things” Kate pointed out, Faith groaned and turned around angrily.
“What was I supposed to do? Lie down and take it?” Faith retorted.
“I don’t know” Kate admitted, she followed Faith and placed her hand on her shoulder “Are you ok?” she soothed. Faith turned around and laughed sadly.
“I’ve signed myself up for life imprisonment, of course I’m not ok, I’m fucking crazy” Faith gritted her teeth and looked deep into Kate’s green eyes.
Kate’s hand dropped and found Faith’s, she nestled her fingers inside the palm and looked back at Faith.
“You’re not crazy…” Kate whispered “You’re doing the right thing” Faith pulled her eyes away from Kate’s and sat on the bed.
“I think you should go” Faith replied sternly. Kate frowned disheartened and walked out of the room without saying anything.
